We bloggers do love to talk about our sports…but how well do we play them?

This contest is pretty self-explanatory: I want to know who the most athletic blogger in the world is. My assumption here is that a lot of bloggers are people with desk jobs who don’t get a lot of exercise, but I hope I’m wrong. The rules are simple:

1. You must have a blog, that I can verify.
2. You must find a way to prove your athleticism…photos, videos, stat sheets, etc. are all valid. They must be validated by myself.
3. You will be seeded by blog rankings, so join a site like BallHype. This will make for good competition because there might be some real athletes with less popular blogs who can knock off the top dogs!
4. Voting will be done on this site by the readers. Feel free to vote for yourself. The competition will proceed until one blogger reigns supreme.

I think that covers it, as far as rules go.

Be creative. Make a documentary or something…chronicle your efforts to hit a home run or throw a 60-yard pass. Find some buddies and record yourself racing them in the 40 yard dash. Maybe extra kudos to a white dunking blogger.

The trick here will be verifying that you indeed DID perform the athletic achievement. I’ll take all the help I can get. I don’t want bloggers throwing out videos they find on Youtube, but that should be easy enough to catch.

If you are interested in taking part in this contest, email me at doug@thefootballprofessor.com. Registration is open until 7/26, a month from today.

The prize? Well, aside from the instant notoriety, you’ll probably get a t-shirt or a picture of a trophy or something chintzy like that. I’m open for suggestions.

***UPDATES***

1. Pro Athlete Bloggers will have their own category.

2. We can make multiple categories, i.e. sport-specific or event-specific. Like best 4×4 relay blog team. Or something like that.

Oh, by the way - NO PRO ATHLETES. That’s just not fair. I know they’re bloggers too, but come on.
